We met while working together at a brain bank in New York City. We kept things strictly professional. Mostly.
Spring 2022 — Slides vs. beer cheese
Ask us when we first fell for each other and you'll get two different answers. Diana remembers reviewing blood clots together at a dual-headed microscope. Ricky remembers later that day, when the brain bank crew went to Earl’s to celebrate a coworker’s promotion and Diana, completely in her own world, devoured the garlic beer cheese bread. Ricky was smitten. We have agreed to disagree.

The first photo
Our first picture together was, naturally, taken for a coworker’s goth-themed birthday party. Diana wore spooky lipstick. Ricky survived.
Our first year
Our first year together was filled with trips, birthday celebrations, holidays, and plenty of adventures around New York—with plenty of good food of course.

Spring 2022 — The first date
We finally went on our first date to a comedy club. Diana devoured some fries. Ricky fell deeper. A pattern was beginning to emerge.
July 2023 — Chicago
We packed up our lives in New York and moved to Chicago together.
August 2023 — Medical school & beyond
Medical school began one month later. Over the next few years came long nights of studying, plenty of trips whenever we could squeeze them in, and our favorite addition to the family: Lola.
January 2026 — The easiest yes
Just after midnight on New Year's, surrounded by family and friends at home in New York, Ricky proposed. Diana said yes.
2027 — The next chapter
Although we don’t know where residency will take us just yet, we know where we’ll be June 6th, 2027 – our wedding! We can't wait to celebrate the next chapter of our story there with all of you there!
